Contemporary Communist Movement In India

Iam not a Marxist idealogue.I don't want to be one.Anyhow,as a layman with leftist learnings,I have had serious thoughts about the plight of Indian Communist Movement and India's countless communist parties. What about you? Some may find it sad,and some may find it appaling, amusing and for some the only emotion might be indifference.Any how it is worthwhile to think about the Indian Communist Movement in the present Global scenario and in the Indian polity.
Do you know when was the Communist Party of India formed? It was in 1921.And do you know when was BJP formed? It was in 1980.Do you know which are the political parties in India fighting for power at the Centre.Only two-Indian National Congress and BJP.
Much water has flowed down the Ganjes.Since 1921 numerous political churnings took place in India .One Communist party got multiplied into several communist parties and in the process many of the genuine communist followers got disillusioned and withdrew into their shells. They turned nostalgic. Those who dreamt about Spring Thunder and an egalitarian society witnessed to their annoyance and apprehensions found themselves left in the lurch. The Movement is in a shambles. In the Marxian perlance, the ever widening sap between the "haves" and "havenots" has reached alarming proportions. But who cares? The party which ought to have grown across the length and breadth of the country, the party which ought to have provided solace to the millions of downtrodden and the party which ought to have been enthroned in the Capital,NewDelhi by this time got transformed into a surreal picture in the present day India. And now it finds itself in a corner and the two bourgeois(again the Marxian perlance)parties are vying with one another for power at the Centre.Corporate India is growing at a fast pace and the teeming millions of agricultural workers and millions of unemployed youth, slum dwellers and unorganised workers are groping in the dark.Debt-ridden farmers unable to cope with the agony and humiliation find salvation in suicides.
Marvelling on the increasing GDP(9%) and Skyrocketing Sensex (now crossing 14000 mark),the rulers paint a glossy picture of shining India before the World and rest on their laurels.
The other side of India-the world of millions of downtrodden , debt-driven farmers unemployed youth and hapless women and children is swept under the carpet by the wily rulers.Who are to blame for all these? The present day rulers?Or the apathetic Communist Parties of India who are the self-proclaimed champions of the poor?
Aren't they equally responsible for this predicament? As a layman I am constrained to ask the so-called communists of the land-why did you split into several splinter groups? Was it ideological and nothing else? So you have the responsibility to explain to the Indians about your ideological differences?By remaining a divided house and fighting with each other how come you come to rule if not in the near future even atleast in the distant future? Is it possible?
Isn't this the apt moment for them to ironout their differences -be it ideological or egotistical-and merge into one entity and strive for the creation of a welfare state?
