Like A Rose Petal…..

Our Independence Day celebrations are going to be a thing of past. Even then the hangover still persists. Euphoria of the 62nd Independence Day celebrations may gradually fade out. And the anxious wait for the next Independence Day celebrations may commence soon.
Actually and regretfully I couldn’t watch the hoisting of Tri-colour flag and the first part of speech by our respected Prime Minister Sardar ManMohan Singh delivered from ramparts of RedFort missed me. It was entirely my fault because I woke up a bit late. Any how next day’s newspapers gave me the full picture of the event. Better late than never. Is not so?
I could watch on the television screen various dignitaries from India and abroad and also the “Am Admi” relaxing on the lush green ground simultaneously listening to the speech by our PM with rapt attention.
The most touching scene and it was one of my happiest moments was our respected Finance Minister Chidambaram sitting beside a cute little girl clad in dazzling blue with cropped hair and if my surmise is correct it is his grand daughter. The amount of love and affection showered by our respected Finance Minister on the cute little child was an enthralling sight. But the question still nagging me is his indifferent attitude towards the teeming millions of poor children of India. The amount of love and affection that he showered on her grand daughter could also be extended to the suffering millions of helpless children in our nation and provide sumptous feast atleast once in a day and also take initiative for their formal schooling. His soft touch and a pat on the back of the hapless child could create wonders. Because they are the future priceless treasures of India, if properly guided.
As Raskolnikov of Dostoyevsky’s novel, ‘Crime And Punishment’ said to a girl named Sonia “I didn’t bow down to you, I bowed down infront of the suffering humanity”.
Dear Minister, whenever you notice a scantily clad child anywhere in the streets of our nation please try to recall the cute and innocent face of your grand daughter......
